In Riverside County on Monday April 21st There will be a beard contest at Nellie Weaver Hall in Norco, CA Map . The event will begin at 8pm following the Chili Cook-Off as part of Norco's annual HorseWeek celebration. HorseWeek begins Friday April 18th with Family Rodeo Night and is a celebration of the towns long history of rural living. Day two started the Semi final round with Sacred City Derby Girls Vs. Angel City Derby girls, Sacred City Derby Girls Won 70 to 61. In the second semi final game Bay Area Derby Girls played against Central Coast Roller Derby, Bay Area Derby Girls won 163 to 39. Bay Area Derby Girls and Sacred City Derby Girls advanced to the final round. In the consolation round between Angel City Derby girls and Central Coast Roller Derby, Angel City took third place 146 to 61. In the final game was Bay Area Derby Girls Vs. Sacred City Derby Girls. Bay Area beat Sacred City 101 to 30 becoming the top team in California and taking home the coveted golden skates award. It was a great weekend of roller derby and I am personally looking forward to next years competition. Day one was full of action as teams battled it out through round one of the round robin tournament. Round one consisted of 8 teams divided into two groups playing three games consisting of a twenty minute session with the top two seeds from each group advancing to round two.

Group one started at 1pm. The first game of the day was Bay Area Derby girls Vs. Bakersfield Rollergirls, Bay Area Derby Girls took the Win 89 to 7. Game two was Bakersfield Rollergirls Vs. Angel City Derby Girls, Angel City Derby Girls won 52 to 21. Game three we had Bay Area Derby girls Vs. Sac City Rollers, Bay Area Derby girls won 57 to 4. Game four was Sac City Rollers Vs. the Bakersfield Rollergirls, Bakersfield won 20 to 17. Game five was Angel City Derby Girls Vs. Bay Area Derby girls, Bay Area Derby girls won 53 to 12. Game six was the Sac City Rollers Vs. Angel City Derby girls, Angel City derby Girls won by one point 39 to 38. The top two seeds from group one was Bay Area Derby Girls and Angel City Derby Girls advancing to round two.

Group two started at 5pm and game seven was Sacred City Derby Girls Vs. Port City Roller Girls, Sacred City won 38 to 10. game eight was Port City Roller Girls Vs. Central Coast Roller Derby , Central Coast Roller Derby beat Port City 33 to 27. Game nine was Orange County Rollergirls Vs. Sacred City Derby Girls, Sacred City Derby Girls won 30 to 12. Game ten was Central Coast Roller Derby Vs. Orange County Rollergirls, Central Coast Roller Derby won 35 to 19. Game eleven was Sacred City Derby Girls Vs. Central Coast Roller Derby, Sacred City won 36 to 22. Game 12 was Port City Roller Girls Vs. Orange County Rollergirls, Orange County Rollergirls won 22 to 19. The top two seeds from group two was Sacred City Derby Girls and Central Coast Roller Derby.

The Sac City Rollers and Bay Area Derby Girls are proud to host The Big One this weekend! Women's Roller Derby Leagues from all over California will be headed to Davis, CA for the first ever California Derby Championship. This Saturday and Sunday April 5th & 6th at the Davis Indoor Sports Center (Map). 8 Teams will compete for the title of California Champions. Tickets are available for $15 (full day) and $25 (weekend) and can be purchased by going to brownpapertickets. This is an all ages event. Sunday's tournament play begins at 9am and concludes at 2:30pm. The Championship begins at 3:00pm and concludes at 4:30pm followed immediately by the awards ceremony and closing remarks. Participating leagues include the Sac City Rollers, Bay Area Derby Girls, Sacred City Derby Girls, Angel City Derby Girls, Bakersfield Rollergirls, Central Coast Roller Derby, Orange County Derby Girls and the Port City Roller Girls.
